“We at Finnish Real Estate Agents’ Association SKVL started to wonder about Santa Claus’ housing, and we decided to find out from housing experts, i.e. SKVL’s real estate agents,” says Jussi Mannerberg from SKVL.
92 % reported a definite observation that Santa Claus lives at Korvatunturi in Savukoski in Finnish Lapland. 4 % percent are convinced that Santa also has a second home in Rovaniemi, also in Lapland. Less than 1 % do not believe in the existence of a buck.
Santa has a log cabin as his home with 92% certainty. In addition, about 2% also considered that they have secret underground spaces under the fell, so that such extensive activities are possible as Santa traditionally has.
“Such certain information about Santa’s place of residence and the type of house ends centuries of wondering on where and how Santa Claus lives,” says Jussi Mannerberg, CEO Finnish Finnish Real Estate Agents’ Association.
“Of course, we also found out how Santa arrives, and it also turned out that with 90 % certainty he will arrive on a sleigh pulled by reindeer,” Mannerberg continues.
We also collected stories about how homes have been changed in the spirit of Christmas and other legends. The most surprising of these was that there are rumors in Tampere that Pukki lives in Hervanta and reportedly often arrives in a green Lada car.
The most moving stories come from home exchanges just before Christmas, where many families’ home sales have succeeded at the last minute and brought real Christmas joy.
The significance of Christmas and the gathering of families during all the hustle and bustle of everyday life is highest in the memories of most families, and the arrival of Santa Claus is the highlight of the evening, especially for children. The brightness and mood lighting of your own home during the dark Finnish Christmas season bring great significance throughout the turn of the year.
Helping and doing good is emphasized in many people’s Christmas memories, and the best atmosphere is given by being able to enable as many people as possible to celebrate Christmas in sometimes tough everyday life.
The survey also revealed that more than half of the Brokers consider the Christmas season to be the best time for home exchange, and more than 60 % intend to work during the Christmas season at least part of the day so that as many people as possible can find their own home.
Finnish Real Estate Agents’ Association wishes everyone an atmospheric Christmas season and a Happy New Year 2025!
